The ideal candidate will provide a full range of AutoCAD drafting services to support steel fabrication and installation projects, to include mechanical design, layout, shop detail, and field assembly drawings. Incorporate value engineering practices through knowledge of quality and efficient fabrication and installation practices.

Design Drafter Responsibilities

Drafting Services
Utilize the latest version of AutoCAD to create 2D and 3D drawings for the following purposes:
Generate clear and accurate submittal drawings for customer review and approval
Generate accurate shop detail drawings, as needed, including material and hardware bills of materials and cut lists
Generate field assembly drawings and documents, including shipping lists and field bolt schedules
Prepare CNC nesting files for machine programming
Ensure timely completion of drawings in order to maintain project schedules
Coordinate with Design Drafters and/or detailing subcontractors to ensure designs are being followed and represented accurately
Assist Design Drafters in the completion of mechanical design drawings, as needed
Report on drawing progress at weekly Production and Planning Meeting
Become proficient in the capabilities and practices of our fabrication facility

Estimating Support
Support the estimating department by assisting in bid document review and material take-offs
Provide engineering estimates on projects being bid
Make site visits as required to obtain measurements of existing conditions and make assessments of field conditions
Participate in project start-up meetings, as needed, to review field assembly drawings and documents with Project Manager, General Superintendent and Foreman

Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma
- Four (4) years mechanical drafting experience, or four (4) year degree in engineering or drafting
- Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2D
- Experience with AutoCAD 3D Modeling preferred

Other:

Valid driver’s license
Must live within a commutable distance of Dallastown, PA.
Ability to work at a computer for long hours in an office environment.

Must be able to pass pre-employment screening including a drug test and background check, where applicable.

Travel may include being gone for extended periods of time depending on the project location and time to complete the job. Extended regional area travel may be up to three weeks gone before coming home. Other jobs, travel may be defined as leaving on Sunday evening or Monday morning and coming home Friday. Traveling for jobs outside of the regional area may mean you will be gone for longer than three weeks. While Yoe does try its best to rotate and use a Travel on/Travel off schedule of working out of town for a while and then working local jobs for a break, we cannot always guarantee we have local work available.
